Christopher Obure

Christopher Mogere Obure is a Kenyan politician. He belongs to the Orange Democratic Movement and was elected to represent the Bobasi Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya since the Kenyan parliamentary election, 2007.[1] He had worked for Kenya Breweries Limited (now East Africa Breweries) before joining politics.

Chris Obure as he is famously known,first vied for parliamentary politics in 1969 unsuccessfully then opted out in 1974 having newly wed to Mary.He tried again in 1979 and only won in the then Bassi/Majoge elections of 1983.

In 1988 he was one of the few KANU stalwarts that won unopposed in the unpopular que voting preliminary stage.In 1992 he lost to little known Stephen Manoti,only to regain his Bobasi seat in 1997 rising to be Finance minister under then president Moi.

He lost again in 2002 NARC Alliance driven elections to Manoti.Chritopher maintains a hearty charitable relationship with many of his constituents and helps educate achieving poor students as well as run a charitable support network constituency wide for the less fortunate.He is reputedfor non-interference in the CDF programmes in Bobasi and is a key ally to Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
